HUF OUTREACH
Last year, the City of Toronto estimated that there are nearly 7,500 people experiencing homelessness in Toronto. While a large percentage of these displaced Torontonians now live in shelters, on any given day, approximately 1,000 of our brothers and sisters are physically living on the streets. In tremendous need of support, this neglected population is the focus of the HUF Outreach Team’s Help the Homeless Mission.
Comprised of faith-driven and community-minded volunteers, the HUF Outreach Team engages face-to-face with individuals experiencing homelessness on the streets of Toronto in an effort to improve their overall wellbeing.
Making meaningful, authentic connections, the HUF Outreach Team provides a compassionate ear and words of hope and inspiration, while distributing HUF Care Packages containing a variety of items to meet basic needs and improve quality of life. Each HUF Care Package includes handwritten sentiments from members of the HUF Family and a resource pamphlet with contact information for local shelters, government agencies and programs, and other avenues of support.
The HUF Outreach Team also assists with tidying up areas where homeless people temporarily reside, like alleyways, ravines, parks, abandon buildings and under bridges – this empathetic approach helps improve health and safety and makes it abundantly clear that people have worth no matter what situation they are in. Cleaning supplies are left behind so that those experiencing homelessness can continue to keep their temporary encampments hygienic and maintain their sense of dignity.

How You Can Participate in HUF’s
Help the Homeless Outreach Mission
Make A Donation
Drop off any miscellaneous items you feel will assist the homeless or the mission, such as warm clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, bibles, non perishable food, bottled water, hygiene products, first aid kits, flash lights, back packs, garbage bags and old rakes. Many of these basic items can be found at Dollarama or in your basement or garage collecting dust. HUF volunteers will take your loving donations and create individual HUF Care Packages.
